Climate change is real, and it's affecting us in Fayetteville.
Construction prices are increasing and gas prices just keep going up.
What can a little town like Fayetteville do?
Well, Fayetteville has already done a lot. Our Trails, 2025, and
Downtown Master Plans are exemplary documents that show how smart
planning can tackle global warming from the bottom up. Most cities
tackling this issue are big ones, so smaller towns look to
Fayetteville as an example of what is realistic. Fayetteville is
already playing a leadership role in this movement.
But we could be doing more. We can create regulation and
incentives that encourage low-impact development, and we can lobby
the state and federal government to enact legislation that stimulates
the green economy, and puts jobs in the efficiency and renewables
sector.
Let's join in municipal coalitions, and reach out to other cities
and governments across the world for solutions. If we can unite
ourselves, and organize into a movement with a strong and unanimous
voice, we can build a green economy and prevent most of the effects
of global warming.
We can do it! Let's get started together!
